GIRLS GYMNASTICS

We offer three different programs for Girls Gymnastics:

Recreational Gymnastics

We offer the following levels of recreational (non-competitive) girls gymnastics. Minimum age for all levels is 6 years old (and have completed Kindergarten):

(60-minute class)

This is an introductory beginner level class for students who have little or no experience with gymnastics equipment. For example- we will be focusing on forward rolls, cartwheels, handstands, pullovers, and straight jumps. It allows young gymnasts to explore the sport and begin to learn basic gymnastics techniques on vault, floor, beam, and bars.

(85-minute class)

As strength and flexibility begin to develop, basic gymnastics skills become more familiar. The gymnasts in Level 2 will be introduced to beginner/intermediate skills on all four events. This includes learning bridge kick-overs, round-offs, backward rolls, and back-hip circles. They will use skills from Level 1 as fundamental building blocks to improve upon their Level 2 skill set.

(90-minute class)

By level 3, students have a good background knowledge of basic gymnastics skills and techniques. They will use these as a basis to advancing into more difficult skills on each event. These difficult skills may include handstand flatbacks on vault, handstands on balance beam, back-handsprings on floor, and sole-circle dismounts on bars.  This is an intermediate/advance level.

(120-minute class)

Once students are able to perform all of the Level 3 skill set with proper form and technique, they are introduced to Level 4. The gymnasts have now gained the strength, flexibility, balance and coordination to begin working a variety of skills on all four events. An example of these include; back tucks, front tucks, round-off back handsprings, front hip circles on bars, handstand dismounts on beam, and front handsprings on vault. This is an advance level placement.

(90-minute class)

This is an introductory beginner/intermediate class that allows gymnasts who are ages 10 and older to explore the sport and begin to learn basic gymnastics techniques. It is structured for older students who have little or no experience with gymnastics equipment. This class will focus on skills similar to those learned in Level 1 and Level 2. As the students become more comfortable with the sport, their strength and flexibility will begin to develop, as well as their skills on vault, floor, beam, and bars.

(120-minute class – twice per week)

This program is designed for Level 2, 3, and 4 rec gymnasts interested in competing! STARS is our inter-squad recreational competitive team that is invitation only. It allows upper girls recreational gymnasts the opportunity to compete in 3-4 house meets per year. Each gymnast will receive a routine on bars, beam, floor, and vault tailored to their skill set. They are required to attend twice a week for a two-hour class. Please contact our Girls Rec Staff for an evaluation (girlsrecnvg@gmail.com).
